Our Story
Little Explorers Academy began in a tiny basement bedroom in 2016. After 4 years of opening, COVID and life pushed us to close for a few years. In 2025 we joyfully reopened in a new and much improved space occupying a 1200 square feet basement apartment equipped with a full kitchen and all the space we need to make this dream come true.
Our Mission
We believe play is not a break from learning - it is learning. Children are curious, capable and full of ideas, and our role is to create an environment where they can explore, discover, and grow with joy. Guided by Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), we balance child-led curiosity with intentional teaching, supporting the whole child - socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically.
Meet Our Founder
Andrea Charlton trained in early childhood education at Utah State University and has been working in the field since 2008. She has taught 1st grade, Kindergarten, and worked for Utah Online School for 8 years teaching grades K-8 online. This preschool is such a joy and happy place for her. It is one of her greatest accomplishments.
Ms. Sara is our head teacher again this year. She is a devoted preschool teacher, children’s book author, and loving mother of two. With nine years of teaching experience—most recently in the Alpine School District—Sara’s creative approach to education and genuine love for storytelling have made her a cherished member of her community. Last year, she was honored with 11 RISE awards for her outstanding contributions to the district. Sara’s passion for education, coupled with her warmth and creativity, continues to leave a lasting impression on both children and families. She and I will combine our skills to have detailed, developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
